Microsoft is on a rollercoaster ride which is driving people crazy by throwing in blistering and ablazing back-to back updates. This time Microsoft has come up with a new yet free email account, Outlook.com which is rich in features and services provided compared to its counterpart Hotmail.com. It has a clean new look, also ties in your social media contacts and is pretty much similar to G-mail. In addition, this new service will provide people with a new e-mail address — @outlook.com — which will replace the older @hotmail.com address, used by hundreds of millions worldwide. Moreover, Hotmail users can also “upgrade to Outlook.com” to keep their existing address. The new Web-based e-mail service will eventually integrate Skype to counter Gmail-embedded Google’s Talk service. Therefore, it would not be difficult to say, this move by Microsoft simply could indicate that the era of Hotmail is going to face an end as Outlook has invigorated the meaning of having a free email account for Microsoft and has inflicted in new spirit of rivalry amongst the free email account providing services.
Lastly, outlook, on the other end, has got a lot of success as it lured out 1M people on the new account within just 6 hours of launch-announcement. How much success it further unfolds, this could be seen in forthcoming days.
