We previously told you about Cinnamon, Now, new version Cinnamon 1.4 is released. People like Gnome 2 but with passage of time Gnome 2 will not be option anymore with more latest cutting edge components made purely for Gnome 3. MATE has proven itself to be good alternative but it will change eventually because it is designed to just replicate Gnome 2 desktop. Its time we should move ahead, Gnome 2 was no doubt wonderful and many people are used to Gnome 2 that is why people are resisting to adapt Gnome 3, Unity etc. Moreover Gnome Shell provided considerable excuse with its unpractical user interface to not use Gnome 3. Gnome Shell is out of picture as it not not productive in desktop environment and people are reluctant to Unity although it is useful, this is because many people are reluctant to change, Cinnamon gives usability and gives Gnome 2 attached people cutting edge technology without changing their usage way. In this time of Gnome 3 crises Linux Mint team moved forward and introduced Cinnamon which is based upon Gnome 3 and Mutter and don’t really force users to change by maintaining Gnome 3 like user interface and functionality. Cinnamon is going in right direction and user response about Cinnamon is good which indicates the Gnome 3 future will be Cinnamon.
