How to Install Sublime Text 2 on Ubuntu 12.04 & 12.10

Sublime Text 2 is awesome text editor which comes with Textmate like features. It is not really free but you can evaluate for unlimited period of time. Sublime Text 2 have all features that you will ever want in a Text Editor.

Sublime Text 2 have unique user interface with sidebar for project files and Chrome like tabs for split screen editing with horizontal, vertical and quad-pane mode.

A cool mini-map on right-top side of user interface gives nice overview of all code in opened file.

With keyboard shortcuts you can quickly perform common tasks. Also there are few interesting shortcuts like CTRL+P for Go To Anything which will search through all opened files and recently closed files, I found it very useful especially when I am lost in lot of opened files. Other useful features include distraction free writing, macros and support for Textmate themes.

The Sublime Text 2 comes in .tar files which are a bit tricky for new users to install.  Through PPA Sublime Text can be installed easily with automatic updates for the future version.
